Elevator Reviews #3

I haven't done any elevator reviews in quite a while, but I felt the need for the books in this post just because I didn't have a lot to say. This post series is kind of like an elevator pitch meets a book review.

Bookishly Ever After by Isabel Bandeira
Grade: B
An e-galley was provided by Spencer Hill Press via NetGalley in exchange for review consideration.
Summary: An extremely bookish girl is reluctant to fall for one of her guy-friends because he isn't perfectly like the guys in her books.
Review: There were some formatting issues since I read this as an e-galley, but I really enjoyed this one! I loved Phoebe's circle of friends and how passionate she was about her interests. Points for diversity and a great love interest. I only noticed a few swear words.
Will I be adding this book to my library?: Maybe! It's on my Secret Sister wishlist, so we'll see.

Buy: Read Between the Lynes  Barnes & Noble

Front Lines by Michael Grant
Grade: B-
An ARC was provided by HarperCollins in exchange for review consideration.
Summary: Alternate history where girls can be drafted and can enlist in World War II. Follows three girls - Rio (who wants to honor her sister), Rainy (who wants to kill Germans), and Frangie (who needs money for her family).
Review: A very meaty book, and apparently it's the first of at least two. I didn't feel like I got to know the characters as well as I would've liked. That was my biggest issue with the book; I felt very distanced from the narrators. I would've liked a little more emotion.
Will I be adding this book to my library?: I think I'm getting a copy for being on the blog tour.
